The Self Improvement and NLP Blog - sharing thoughts for April

Hi folks, I have been away for some time giving talks on motivation and how to live life, so I have not blogged for a while. Hope you guys have not forgotten me.

Well, today I am sharing thoughts for the month of April because I have gathered so much self improvement learning from my participants and my friends during this time while I was supposedly to be teaching, yet I was learning more than teaching!

The most interesting principle I learnt was the Mother Theresa's Principle. What is this principle? It is about doing the little things for your friends and colleagues without their knowledge and brightening their lives so that they in turn can become better off and go on to brighten other people's lives. Say for example, you leave an apple on your colleagues' tables one Monday morning quietly and go on with your usual routine. When your colleagues come to work, they are pleasantly surprised to see a fresh rosy apple on their desk. They may ask but they will be happy to receive this gift. The apples do not cost much but they bring great joy to the receipient. Do this kind of little random acts of kindness, and your life would be enriched many folds more.

The second principle is called the destruction power of rotten apples. I am sure all of you know that one rotten apple spoils the whole crate. So if you know someone who has toxic personality and who does nothing but is critical of you and always find fault with you, go away as far as possible before you get drawn into the negativity of that poisonous "apple". It is not easy to run away from such a person but you can always counteract by switching your thoughts to positive things if this rotten apple tries to destroy your mood or your day. You may even turn him or her around by offering oranges such as nice words to such people. Tell them they look good or they are great for their attire or their little acts which may be worth talking about. In this way you can redeem the rotten apple and it will not spoil your day, instead you improve that person along the way;

The third concept is called the Mathew concept. Who is Mathew? It is actually borrowed from the bible. The gospel of Mathew contained one story of the talents. Each one of us has different talents and thus we should use that talent or those talents which we have and behave accordingly. For those with many, they should utilise them to the fullest while those with one should not bury their only talent like an ostrich. The only talent may be the best such as being able to sing or dance. If you have only one talent, capitalise on it and maybe you are greater than you thought.

Ah, I will share more in my next blog. Think about these few tips and make your day a wonderful day. It takes very little to make our lives meaningful and it takes very little to help others become enriched and improved their lives.

cheers
