The Self Improvement and NLP Blog - How to maximise learning at seminars and workshops

Hi good day folks

I was asked by some of my friends as to how to maximise learning at seminars and workshops. This is a vital question because the whole purpose of attending seminars is to increase our self awareness and increase our confidence and therefore become better and improved.

Well, I learned over the years both as a participant and a trainer, that it is essential for all of us to really carry a little notebook. This is not the laptop or computer, but a little booklet to jot down main ideas. One great writer told me that you just need one big idea to become great. You need only one big idea to break out of life's mundane trivialities. So jotting down whatever ideas mentioned in the seminar and talks could become BIG ideas for you next time. This is how you improve and innovate on those ideas for future references.

The second thing I learned and told my audience about is to concentrate and listen. Listening is not easy for most of us because we think we are very smart and there is nothing we can learn from others. Wrong! Anyone can be a teacher to us if we are attentive enough to put our heart and ears to the ground. Sounds of wind can become lyrics for song writers, so words of wisdom can be missed if we do not pay attention during class or workshop.

How to improve ourselves and enrich our life's experiences, we have to truly listen and not hear. Hearing we may forget but listening is the whole body experience. Both the head and the heart are used to the fullest. In this way, we improve our lives by learning from others and we enhance our stature by being more knowledgeable.

So, next time, listen for important ideas, write down quickly into the little notebook and then try to apply when the need arises. In this way, you improve your repertoire of ideas, improve your life and also open up your inner circle of networking possibilities.

This is how we can maximise our learning at any workshop or seminar. Marginal improvement day by day is accumulation of knowledge which can turn into power as time comes.
Cheers and have a nice day
