Tips on being a great conversationist to improve your life
Since 16 I was already training myself to become a great conversationist so tht I can have friends and to get boys to do things for me. I only realized that this is connected to NLP when I read a book on this useful technique used by many authors to teach the art of being a great conversationist.
I shall share my personal experience on this very important interpersonal skill which I harnessed so well that even now, I could get strangers to respond to my conversation because I will focus the questions on them and their lives.
People like to talk about themselves and criticize others because in doing so, they feel good; they feel motivated and lighten up.
Everytime I attend a function or a party, I will scan the whole area for anyone who looks like a good conversationist too. If it is someone whom I like to be acquainted with, I will go up to the person and smile. Then I will ask very straight forward questions such as :” Heh, is this your first function or party?”. This is to check whether that person is interested in accepting your smile or question.
Once that person is caught smiling back and starting to talk to me, I will start my conversation with that person which may begin continue this” I seem to have seen you at ABC event or function before. “ this is a safe starter. Most of the time, this statement works in my favour.
If I discover that he or she is not my type of conversation partner, I may excuse myself on the pretext of having to get a drink or saw someone I know and move on…
If that person is fun to be with, I may end up asking for phone number or vice versa. Then a friendship or a relationship thus may begin. Try this if you are still unattached, lonely or single. It works very well for me because I believe in using my powerful smile and a simple greeting to cut down all barriers… A smile is a sure way to enjoying yourself anywhere anytime.. Learning to become a great conversationist helps you to grow and get friends everywhere.
