Can Being Lazy and Slow Be Really Good for Wellbeing? :)

Self Improvement and NLP blog

Power of being lazy and slow

Sometimes we think that by doing things fast or even multi tasking we are doing lots of work and being very productive. This is indeed wrong because by multi tasking, we may not be able to fully focus on minor details and thus the work will not be really as effective as we want it to be.

So today I am going to discuss some ideas on how to improve our lives without the hassle and buzzle of being too busy and too fast. I read some books recently on the need to slow down in this fast moving society. True, being too fast is not really good for our souls. So how to be slow and steady and still reach the ultimate success goals.

Here are some tips to achieve self improvement and maintain high efficiency.

Firstly, follow the Japanese method of having “ma” – a kind of space – in between work. It is like a breather, a pause in a movement… Have you ever heard a presenter or speaker speaking very fast and then he pauses for a moment… the whole audience becomes interested in what or why he pauses… This is the powerful moment of ma.

Life should be filled with “ma” every now and then.. allowing us to breathe and recollect our life so that our live is not just work, work and work.. It is enhanced and made better improved with lots of ma in between.

The second is to pause and take a power nap every afternoon (even at work) – the Americans now realise that an afternoon siesta can be very effective for productivity. A moment of rest is very refreshing to the body and the soul.. it helps the brain too.

The third tip is to breathe deeply – just like a little baby – really breathing in moments of life each day… our lives would be very much improved and beautified if everyone of us can breathe deeply and take in the world in one deep breath… and then take the next step slowly but surely to the next level.. This deep breathing is very often practised by the religious people who seem to live longer and healthier.. so we should do likewise so that our lives will be greatly improved especially the quality of being.

The next tip is to take the untrodden path. This means trying new ways of doing things, walking new paths along the way or taking new routes in our life journey. Familiarity breeds contempt of thoughts so it is good for us to take new routes, new ideas of solving problems and looking at problems. In this way, we enrich our lives and enhance our living.

Ah, the power of being slow is definitely good for us because it is moments when we stop to think, stop to look around us that we realise that the world is such a beautiful place… the warm sunshine in summer and the light breeze are all we need for great living… Cheers
